Looking Forward
The 2020-2021 year presented new opportunities for ASBA to raise the profile of trustees and highlight the impactful work that school board trustees do individually and collectively.
Looking ahead towards the coming year, ASBA will continue to find innovative ways to serve member boards in supporting student success. As a membership-driven organization, ASBA will continue to work closely with members to listen, support and advocate on their behalf across the province. In the coming year, ASBA will also welcome a new President and Vice-president, elected as part of the 2021 Fall General Meeting.

Municipal elections and orientation
Following the municipal election on October 18, 2021, ASBA will offer robust onboarding and orientation programs for all trustees including orientation sessions for new trustees, Board Chairs and Zone Chairs, along with resources on TLC. Consulting supports and individual board orientation sessions will also be available to members to ensure every board has a successful start to the new term.
ASBA will continue to prioritize supporting members to the fullest. Whether through education services, resources or advocacy, ASBA champions all locally-elected public, catholic and francophone school boards across the province.
Advocacy
ASBA continues to foster relationships with municipal, provincial and federal governments, and advocate on behalf of members on policies and legislation. Looking ahead, we will continue to advance our advocacy initiatives, enhancing the supports ASBA provides to school boards and ensuring a strong presence at the provincial level. ASBA will continue to be proactive and ensure our members’ voices are brought to the table.
